Can this still be programmed, if so how? If it needs replacing what can I replace it with?
Nothing yet
Hi there,
Thanks for sending over the photo of your Mamba board and your order number. Looking at the picture, there’s no obvious physical damage that would stop it from being programmed. More often than not, these boards can be recovered!
Can it still be programmed?
Yes, most likely. As long as the main processor isn’t damaged and the board still powers up, you should be able to connect to it. The key is using the USB port.
How to Program It
This flight controller (FC) runs Betaflight firmware. You’ll need the Betaflight Configurator software on your computer to program it.
Here’s the process:
-
Download Software: Get the latest version of the
Betaflight Configurator
for your computer (Windows, Mac, or Linux). -
Find the USB Port: You’ll need to locate the USB port on the FC. It’s likely a Micro USB or USB-C port, possibly on the side or bottom of the board, so you may need to move some wires to see it clearly.
-
Connect to PC: Use a data-capable USB cable to connect the FC to your computer. (Some cheaper cables are for charging only and won’t work).
-
Power Up & Drivers: When you plug it in, the FC should power up and you should see some LEDs light up on the board.
- If your computer doesn’t recognise it, you may need to install drivers. The easiest way to do this on Windows is to use the
ImpulseRC Driver Fixer
.

-
Connect in Betaflight: Open the Betaflight Configurator, select the correct COM port from the dropdown menu at the top, and click “Connect”.
If it connects, great! You can configure all your settings. If it won’t connect, the board may have an issue with the USB port or the 5V regulator circuit. Given the age of the FC its unlikely we will be able to get a replacement under warranty for you, so hopefully that works!
What to Replace It With?
If you try the steps above and find the board is definitely faulty, you have a few great replacement options. The key things you need are a flight controller with a 20x20mm mounting pattern and a connector for the DJI Air Unit/Vista.
Here are a few solid choices that we’d recommend as a drop-in replacement:
- SpeedyBee F405 Mini Stack: A very popular and reliable option. This comes as a stack (FC and ESC combo) and includes a powerful F405 processor, a DJI connector, and even built-in Bluetooth for wireless configuration from your phone.
The most important thing is to match the 20x20mm mounting size
