I’m looking to buy something like a 550kv motor, but I am not having great luck finding any that aren’t over $100 each. Does anyone know a good source to find sub 1000kv motors like this for bigger quads?

There are others on the site that are less than 1000kv. With sub 550kv, I’m guessing you’re doing some serious lifting?!
Not so much heavy lifting, although heavy compared to most fpv racing, but I’m trying to design to be as efficient as possible with the longest flight time possible. Hence, big props, which means lower kv.

I’m running 15" props on 5008 340KV motors (Tarot TL96020) on a 710mm extended TBS Discovery frame. I’m happy with them
