Order #708322 - Frsky Archer M+ Receiver - Erratic SBus output

Order Number: 708322
Product Name: Frsky Archer M+ Receiver
Brand: Frsky
I ordered two, one works fine. The other has an erratic SBus output. With only 5 channels configured, my diagnostic tool shows the receiver output on all 5 channels is very erratic and uncontrolled. Placement checked - no interference. Voltage 5v from stabilised PSU.

The receiver registered and bound to my FrSky X18 without issue. A steady green (connected) LED is visible on the rx. My X18 shows full signal strength and receiver connected. The firmware is current on tx and rx.

The recipient model works fine with the other one purchased. Please test and is you agree, please replace.
Connected to a Beier SFR-1 sound, speed and light controller. Real time diadnostics (USB data cable SFR-1 to PC) show erratic and uncontrolled SBus output.

Firmware up to date.
Bind and register confirmed on X18.
Voltage set at 5v on stabilised PSU
Beier unit connection confirmed and enabled for SBus.
The Beier unit is working fine - 12 months use - just a change of tx/rx. Put ‘old’ rx back in place and all works fine.

Hi Colin good day,

I am really sorry to hear you are battling with this Rx. You have done everything already that I would suggest checking, so I have sent your description and video off to Frsky and have asked them for some technical support on the issue.

As soon as I hear back from them I will come back to you.

Again, I am sorry you are dealing with this issue, I will try to get this sorted out for you as timelessly as I can.

Hope this helps.
If there is anything else I can help with please do let me know?

How would you rate our customer service?

Regards,
David

Hello David.

Thanks for this. Just for information, I have fitted a plus R6 in the model and all works as expected.

Hi Colin good day,

We received the following requests from FrSky:

Look at the wire he welded? Can you take a picture of us

These two M+, which is SBUS-24 or SBUS-16?

Moreover:

Ask the user to take a picture of the content of the following three interfaces:
1. Remote control output interface (play rod motion video)
2. Remote control mixed control interface
3. Receiver setting options interface

Would you be able to provide the following and I can send this on to FrSky again, to try get this sorted out?

Regards,
David

Hello David

Aside the fact that I don’t understand a lot of their request, I believe I have submitted more than that which is required for proof the unit is faulty. I am not prepared to go further for what is a £14 receiver. I am happy to return it to you for a replacement. That’s all I can do. Regards Colin

Hi, I agree with you about this, its clear that the second M+ is faulty, so I will chase this back with Frsky and see if they can just authorise a replacement unit so we can send you a new one without any need for return/further testing! I will get back to you about this tomorrow! If not we will send a return to get it back and send you a replacement from our own stock and chase Frsky up in our own time about this faulty unit.
