BETAFPV PAVO PICO II review: tiny DJI O4, surprisingly spry

This is a companion topic for our recent blog post on blog.unmanned.tech

The BETAFPV Pavo Pico II is here to show us that size isn’t everything—well, unless you’re talking about the frame being a diminutive 75-80mm. This little marvel manages to cram in DJI’s O4 Lite without making it feel like an awkward fit, proving that even micros can have some serious agility. Beta FPV has slapped on their trusty 1102 motors and 45mm props, claiming a slight boost in thrust with those “lava” motors, which is just fancy talk for “they’re hot stuff.”

Now, let’s talk about that canopy. It’s redesigned to be softer than a boiled sweet, isolating the camera from motor vibrations like an overly protective parent. But do keep an eye on the bobbins; too much weight and they could throw a tantrum. However, testing suggests they’ve struck just the right balance between isolation and durability—no mid-air meltdowns… yet.

Flight performance? It’s not exactly a heavyweight champion but does a decent impression of one. With stabilised footage looking rather snazzy, the Pavo Pico II thrives during cinematic flights without succumbing to prop wash drama. Expect around 4.5 minutes of flight time on a 550mAh 2S pack, which is ample time for a bit of cheeky fun before you need to recharge.

In summary, if you’re after compact cine-capability without the bulk, the Pico II is quite the catch. Just remember, if you’re chasing low-light performance and top-tier image quality, you might want to steer towards the O4 Pro. Choose wisely, or you might find yourself in the doghouse with your drone.
