BETAFPV Pavo Femto: Tiny Drone, Big Impact!

This is a companion topic for our recent blog post on blog.unmanned.tech

The BETAFPV Pavo Femto is a pint-sized wonder weighing in at just 54 grams (before you strap on a battery, mind), boasting the new DJI O4 unit. Measuring a mere 75mm motor to motor, it promises a flight time of around 5 minutes and 30 seconds with a 550mAh LiHV battery. While its sturdy frame can withstand some enthusiastic flying, be wary of third-party batteries; they’ll need to be a precise fit, or you might end up with a rather snug situation.

In a test flight that could only be described as ‘character-building’ due to the wind, our pilot Rimzler discovered that the O4’s clarity was commendable, albeit with a little wobble. The transition from angle to acro mode did improve control, though it seems the drone’s tuning might require a bit of fine-tuning—perhaps a job for a slightly less breezy day.

On a subsequent attempt, with the wind playing nice, Rimzler found the Pavo Femto performed much better, dodging the dreaded jello effect but still showing a hint of wobbly charm. The O4 unit proved itself a reliable companion, allowing for some adventurous flights beyond previous limits, while also showcasing its potential for carrying a naked GoPro, should one be so inclined.

All in all, the Pavo Femto stands as a robust option for both indoor jaunts and calmer outdoor escapades. Its exploratory flair combined with the O4’s signal strength makes it a worthwhile contender, even if the footage doesn’t quite match your Hollywood aspirations. Still, it’s not every day you find such a small drone with such big ambitions.
