The GEPRC Vapor D5 Review: A Deadcat That Soars High!

This is a companion topic for our recent blog post on blog.unmanned.tech

Rimzler’s latest review takes a look at the GEPRC Vapor D5, and it seems this deadcat is ruffling a few feathers—though thankfully, none of them are ours. The unboxing reveals a rather dapper drone in striking orange, alongside an array of accessories that would make any hobbyist swoon. Notably, it comes in both 5-inch and 6-inch frames, with the deadcat configuration earning a nod for avoiding propeller view issues. Lovely jubbly.

When it comes to specs, the Vapor D5 boasts a wheelbase of 230mm and tips the scales at 460 grams, complete with propellers and a GoPro mount. While Rimzler raises a brow at the weight, he appreciates the sturdy carbon build that can withstand a good bashing. The motors pack a punch, and the dual board stack offers a decent level of tech wizardry without making your head spin.

Rimzler’s first flight with the 1800mAh 6S battery was surprisingly smooth—who knew flying could be so tranquil? He squeezed out about six minutes of freestyle fun before trying his luck with a heftier 3300mAh battery. While it felt a tad bulkier, he still managed a respectable flight time of seven minutes, proving that bigger isn’t always better, but it does keep things interesting.

In the end, he gives the Vapor D5 a hearty endorsement, labelling it one of the best flying deadcats he’s encountered. Just a couple of minor quibbles regarding weight aside, it seems the Vapor D5 is well-suited for long-range escapades and bundle bashing. And if you’re of the opinion that safety is paramount, a GPS addition is a worthy consideration.
