The flight controller will not connect due to a short circuit I believe as the cpu gets really hot and the 5v output is measure on a multi meter to be shorted so I assume there is an issue with the regulator and it’s shorted somewhere
I have tried flashing the firmware itself which didn’t work so I went to the board noticed it was very very hot so i decided to check all the outputs with a multi meter which determines the 5v output is shorted I can get a picture if needed however it is hard to photograph

I am sorry to see you are struggling with this FC.

Starting with firmware flashing before doing and soldering is a great strategy.

One of the first things a manufacturer will look at when a fault is reported is soldering, so this gives us the very best chance at getting this resolved for you quickly.

I have already sent your photos and description through to Matek and will update you as soon as I hear back from them.

The fact that two have failed in a row suggests that something else could not be quite right.

Please can you send some photos of the latest FC showing how it was installed, so I can look into this further. Then we can also arrange to have both boards returned back to us for inspection/refund/replacement etc…

I just needed to confirm since something clearly is not right as it is definitely odd that two that have failed in a row so would like to investigate this further with Matek.

Yes definitely all I have done with them both is connect them to a pc via USB-C and from there they get hit and won’t connect or let me install the firmware, what would you like me to film and show ?

This is incredibly odd, to have two FC fail in exactly the same way like this.

The only thing I can imagine is it is USB/power related in some way causing an issue.

Is this connected directly to PC or does it go through a hub?

Unfortunately we would not be able to send you a third replacement as this is likely to happen again.

Is it possible to have you send both of these back to us?

We can send you an RMA and then speak to Matek independently while we sort out a refund for you.

Yep all that happens if I connected it via usb into the pc which worked well with the existing flight controller I have (the one I ordered is the same models used for an upgraded version on my project) however both times on power up the boards have got hot. I can send them back however would I be expected to cover the cost of shipping ? I would appreciate a refund as this has caused a lot of stressed with the deadline which I now won’t make and have had to just submit my method without a working result. :frowning:
