Happymodel Mobula 8: Tiny whoop that finally tops the Mobula 7

This is a companion topic for our recent blog post on blog.unmanned.tech

The Happymodel Mobula 8 has arrived, and it’s certainly made an effort to outshine its predecessor, the Mobula 7. It sports an O4 Lite camera and a well-thought-out 85mm frame designed to tackle the wobbles and jello that plagued earlier models. While it flies like a dream—unless you’re cruising at low throttle where that pesky jello rears its ugly head—it’s best suited for those who enjoy a bit of fun flying rather than capturing cinematic masterpieces.

Inside the box, expect the usual suspects: a couple of spare props, filters, stickers (oh joy), and a reasonably robust build that balances toughness with a touch of finesse. The O4 Lite camera now comes with a nifty wide-angle adapter, which is all well and good—just don’t expect it to banish vibrations entirely. The Mobula 8 excels in stability and handling but might need a few cheeky mods if you want your footage to be anything less than a wobbly horror show.

For those who fancy themselves a spot of casual flying, this drone ticks many boxes, gliding smoothly even in light winds and showcasing a composure that would make a well-trained butler proud. However, if you’re looking to record pristine footage, you might find yourself wishing for a bit more from the camera setup. It’s not all doom and gloom though; a few simple tweaks could elevate your experience dramatically.

In summary, if you’re after a solid flyer with a dash of cheekiness, the Mobula 8 could well be your next purchase. But for the perfectionists among us, prepare to roll up your sleeves for some minor enhancements.
