FPV drone flips on takeoff

I have just done a bit of research and it seems like the ESCs on the wizard can support Oneshot 125. So if the problem is still happening with this motor protocol selected then it is likely to be a different issue.

However, testing motors can be confusing. When I first tested the motors with the transmitter, the spun up initially as expected but then all started to change speeds on there own. even when my throttle was at zero. The reason I think it does this is because of the flight controller. When you increase the throttle (with no props on) the FC will expect to detect vertical acceleration (like it would if you had the props on). If it doesn’t, it thinks the motors haven’t spun up enough and starts to increase them until it does get a response but with no props on, it never will. So I think the only way to test the motors and be sure that they are working is with a hover test.

I was almost certain there was something wrong with my quad when it did this but later found that it flew fine. I would suggest that you make sure that your motor protocol is set to Oneshot 125 and try a hover test. Hope that this solves your problem.

Yes thank you, i set it to the Oneshot 125 protocol and took it for a test hover and it all seemed to be working fine, i guess that must have been the problem and yes it appears that testing it on a desk without props doesn’t provide accurate results (did get a little excited during the test and crash resulting in a broken prop but that’s part of the fun) thanks for your help!!!
