FPV 2025 recap: DJI, Caddx, HDZero, Insta360 A1, and the UK rules

This is a companion topic for our recent blog post on blog.unmanned.tech

As we sauntered into 2025, the FPV landscape had a bit of a wobble, but fret not; we’ve gathered the essentials for your perusal.

DJI’s O4 has been the steady ship in the storm, promising reliability and restoring features we thought lost to the sands of time. Meanwhile, Caddx appears to be stuck in a bog, with their latest Ascent cent leaving much to be desired—if only they could deliver on their promises, eh? The Insta360 A1 brings an immersive 360 experience, albeit with some rather noisy quirks that might have you reaching for the editing software more often than not.

On the regulatory front, the new UK rules mean any night flying now requires a flashing green LED. So, if you’ve ever wanted to add six grams to your drone’s weight just to complicate its classification, today’s your lucky day. Finally, brace yourselves, as memory shortages might make gear harder to come by in 2026, making it feel a bit like hunting for unicorns at a bus stop.

For those still keen on getting their hands on FPV gear, yes, it’s still possible—just expect a bit of a scavenger hunt. And if you’re looking for community banter and some hands-on testing, EdgeTX Fest 2026 is on the horizon. Mark your calendars, and do bring your patience; you might need it.
