In the thrilling escapade of digital FPV drones, Caddx has decided it won’t be left in the dust by DJI’s latest offerings—the O4 air unit and N3 goggles. With prices that once made a grown man weep, the market is finally getting a bit friendlier, but Caddx is here to keep things lively with some rather intriguing new VTX models. Yes, they’re attempting to bring digital FPV experiences within reach of those not keen on forking out their life savings.
Amongst the buzz, we hear that Caddx has a 1S VTX currently undergoing field tests, with a featherweight sibling set to join the ranks soon, tipping the scales at a mere 5-6 grams. Imagine slapping that onto a 1S quad—now that’s progress! The audacious ambition of pricing these digital gizmos like their analogue counterparts could very well send ripples through the industry, much to consumers’ delight.
Now, don’t get too carried away just yet. Caddx’s track record with product launches has been a tad rocky, and while they’ve faced their fair share of criticism regarding communication, their commitment to innovation is hard to fault. A new racing-focused VTX aimed at tackling latency issues is also on the cards, but let’s hope the bugs don’t come along for the ride this time.
In short, we stand at an exciting juncture in the FPV realm, where affordable digital systems could soon be the norm rather than the exception. A classic battle of titans is brewing, and as they say in the hive of competition, it’s the consumers who will ultimately reap the rewards.
