DJI O4 Lite Field of View Fix: HappyModel Extender vs FlyWoo Wide Camera

This is a companion topic for our recent blog post on blog.unmanned.tech

It seems the DJI O4 Lite has taken a leaf out of its own book by reducing its field of view to keep weight down, leaving pilots feeling as constrained as a cat in a dog show. Enter the HappyModel FOV Extender and FlyWoo Wide Camera, two compact solutions vying for your attention—and your wallet. The former is a slide-on affair, tipping the scales at a modest 3.13 grams, while the latter requires a bit more commitment and comes with a rather charming red calibration warning.

The HappyModel extender lets you widen your view without ditching your existing camera, making it a perfectly reversible option—ideal if you’re the sort who enjoys frequent gear swaps. Meanwhile, the FlyWoo replacement camera delivers a broader perspective but packs a weightier punch at around 6.36 grams and that aforementioned persistent warning, which is less ‘look at me’ and more ‘I might ruin your video feed’.

In terms of cost, you’re looking at about $23 for the HappyModel solution versus $34.99 for the FlyWoo camera set. If you fancy skipping the DIY faff altogether, FlyWoo also offers a prebuilt drone with their camera already installed for around $139—if you must have everything done for you, darling.

So, if you’re after minimal hassle and a nudge in the right direction, the HappyModel extender could be your best bet. But if you fancy broadening your horizons (and can live with the aesthetic quirks of a calibration alert), the FlyWoo option might just float your boat—or should I say, your drone.
