The BetaFPV Aquila20 has landed, and it’s precisely the sort of FPV trainer that won’t have you crying into your wallet. This kit comes complete with goggles, a radio, and a 2S whoop-style drone that boasts sensor-assisted stabilisation. Perfect for those who’d rather not spend their weekends tinkering and would prefer to leap straight into the world of FPV without a comprehensive degree in aeronautical engineering.
Expect stable flights in assisted modes, though it might throw a bit of a tantrum if you stray onto shiny tiles or reflective surfaces. And while we’re at it, don’t hold your breath for GPS assistance—it’s not in the cards here. The kit includes just about everything you need to start flying: the drone, Light Radio 4 SE, VR04 goggles, and a couple of batteries. It’s like Christmas came early, provided you’ve been exceptionally good this year.
The Light Radio 4 SE is competent enough for medium-distance flights, but long-range aficionados will need to look elsewhere for their fix. Meanwhile, the goggles offer entry-level performance and do the job without making you feel like you’ve been robbed—mostly. Flight times can stretch to an impressive twelve minutes if you keep things gentle, but don’t be surprised if adrenaline-fueled antics drop that down to around five.
In short, the Aquila20 is a great choice for newcomers eager to dive into FPV without the usual hassle. Just remember: if you’re after the precision of a racing quad, you might want to keep looking, or risk learning the hard way that patience is a virtue in this hobby.
