If you have not heard, solar impulse 2 has just had its first successful flight today, the plan is to fly all the way around the world on only solar power!
However on a smaller side note, I came across this great idea from Daniel Lukonis over at DIY drones where he is working on a solar powered quadcopter.
Initial tests show that the added suface area of the solar cells caused the quad to struggle abit in the wind, so the added benefits are negated. However with some aerodynamic refinements it might be possible to at least get some extra endurance out of your quadcopter!
