The Italian energy company Enel will deploy a drone to monitor one of its power plants. Specifically, the company chose a drone system developed by the Israeli startup Percepto. The Sparrow system will support maintenance activities at Enel’s Torrevaldaliga Nord power plant in Lazio, Italy, according to The Drive. The drone has thermal and night vision cameras and can transmit aerial videos, photos and GPS data in real-time. Once it’s deployed, it will be placed in autonomous mode, with a local operator on standby. (Italian law doesn’t allow for fully autonomous drone flights yet)
