Order #UT-713555-WH/OUT/50531 - Betafpv Air65 Brushless Whoop Quadcopter - Item will not go into pairing mode

Order Number: UT-713555-WH/OUT/50531
Product Name: Betafpv Air65 Brushless Whoop Quadcopter
Brand: BetaFPV
the drone will not go into pairing mode or any other mode at all, it is stuck on a blue constant led with alternating flashing red LED. video will be attached. this is regardless of trying to connect via wifi or cable. i have tried to flash the latest firmwares via cable yet nothing shifts it out of this “mode” it is stuck in.

Hi

If your RX LED is just solid on, then its likely that it doesn’t have the correct firmware installed, as it suggests its stuck in bootloader mode, see - LED Status - ExpressLRS

However in your video the blue LED is just showing the Fc has power, but rather the RED led i think is for the ELRS RX, which indicates its looking for your transmitter.

Based on this you are not putting it into bind mode.

Serial ELRS 2.4G RX

Serial ELRS 2.4G RX uses the Crossfire serial protocol (CRSF protocol) to communicate between the receiver and the flight controller board. So the Serial ELRS 2.4G RX is available to support upgrading to ELRS V3.0 with no need to flash Betaflight flight controller firmware. Enter binding status by power on/off three times.

  • Plugin and unplug the flight controller three times;
  • Make sure the RX LED is doing a quick double blink, which indicates the receiver is in bind mode;
  • Make sure the RF TX module or radio transmitter enters binding status, which sends out a binding pulse;
  • If the receiver has a solid light, it’s bound.

The Serial ELRS 2.4G RX can be updated via Wi-Fi or Betaflight serial passthrough. Here is the way to update the Serial ELRS 2.4G RX firmware through passthrough.

  • Plug in your FC to your computer, but do NOT connect to betaflight configurator;
  • Choose target “BETAFPV 2.4GHz AIO RX”;
  • Flash using the BetaflightPassthrough option in ExpressLRS Configurator.

Make sure that you have the same ELRS version on both your receiver and also your radio otherwise they will not bind.

Please let me know how you get on.

hi, thanks for the reply. yes i had tried this, i do get an error regarding

"No CLI available. Already in passthrough mode?, If this fails reboot FC and try again!

Hi, I suggest you check this,

WARNING: Pre-connection option “no_reset” was selected. Connection may fail if the chip is not in bootloader or flasher stub mode.

This warning indicates that the flashing tool is trying to connect without resetting the receiver, which can lead to connection issues if the receiver isn’t already in bootloader mode.

To address this, follow these steps:

  1. Prepare the Receiver for Bootloader Mode:

    • If your receiver has boot pads, bridge them together with solder.
    • If it has a boot button, press and hold it.
    • For receivers with a single boot pad, connect it to a ground pad.
  2. Power the Receiver Correctly:

    • Ensure the receiver is powered only when a LiPo battery is connected.
    • If the receiver powers up with just USB, move its 5V wire to a pad that only supplies power when a LiPo is connected.
  3. Configure the Flight Controller (FC):

    • Connect to Betaflight Configurator and disable telemetry temporarily.
    • Save and reboot the FC.
    • Close Betaflight Configurator and any other applications that might use COM ports.
  4. Initiate the Flashing Process:

    • Open the ExpressLRS Configurator and select the appropriate firmware version, device category, and target for your receiver.
    • Set the flashing method to “Betaflight Passthrough.”
    • Click the “Flash” button.
    • Wait for the “PASSTHROUGH DONE” message in the build log.
    • Power up the receiver by connecting a LiPo battery or by connecting the previously exposed 5V wire to the receiver’s 5V input.

Passthrough Done

I suggest you have a look at this page on the ELRS wiki too - Unbricking - ExpressLRS

This issue suggests its a firmware/driver/config level issue and not actually any hardware fault, so hopefully we can help you through this to get it working.

Kind Regards

thanks for that, managed to get all paired and able to fly with the drone, although the betafpv defaults (Regarding pretty much everything for the air65) seem to just be set to 0, do you know if there is anyway i can perhaps load the drone with its optimized/factory defaults? what i have just winging it settings wise its incredibly incredibly oversensitive lol

Betalight sometimes share their CLI defaults on their support page, but you can also reach out to them on facebook to get this.

I have also sent out a request, but due to Chinese new year, they will be closed until around 10th Feb, so it may take a while to get this from them

EDIT: You can get the CLI defaults here - CLI and Firmware for Air65 Freestyle – BETAFPV Support Center
