Custom Drone build - The motors

Hi, I hope someone can help me. I’ve been planning on building my own drone for a while. I’ve designed and constructed the framework using 3D printing and aluminium tubing.

The main issue is, I don’t know which motors and blades to use. The length of each arm is 250mm and the total body weight (excluding electronics) is 473g. Which motors and blades would you suggest I use? I can then design the electronics and power system around these.

(I’ve attached a photo for reference)

I appreciate your time to take a look at my project and thank you in advance for your help.

Hi
Depends on what the all-up weight ends up at and what payload (camera ??) you want to carry but as a starting point try a set of size 2212-880KV https://www.unmannedtechshop.co.uk/brushless-motor-2212q-850kv/ , with a 4S battery and 1047 props you’ll get about 3.4Kg total lift, (you’ll be safer using 30A ESC’s https://www.unmannedtechshop.co.uk/ct-x-blheli-escs-16a-20a-30a-40a-with-oneshot125/
OR with a 3S battery and 7040 props lift will be about 1.5Kg

Look at ecalc, it’s a tool for calculating all your planned parameters and it will tell you if any incompatibility and expected performance eCalc - xcopterCalc - the most reliable Multicopter Calculator on the Web

Hope this helps
