The Bambu Lab H2D 3D printer has arrived, and it’s not just any run-of-the-mill model. With its dual hot end extruder, it allows for the intricate dance of multi-material printing—perfect for those who fancy a bit of complexity without the customary faff. It also comes with built-in sensors and cameras for monitoring your masterpieces, ensuring you won’t inadvertently create a spaghetti monster if you wander off for a cuppa.
The AMS module has had a facelift, addressing previous annoyances and making filament management easier than sorting the recycling. Plus, with a print volume that could comfortably accommodate a small cat—350 x 350 x 325 mm—you won’t be left wanting when it comes to size. However, do keep in mind that using both nozzles at once will shrink your effective workspace, so a bit of planning is required unless you enjoy living on the edge.
Now, if you’re keen on using TPU, do ensure you’ve got the right hot end; otherwise, you might find yourself in a bit of a pickle. Early reports suggest that PLA and PETG prints are coming out beautifully, but let’s face it, TPU is like trying to teach an old dog new tricks—tricky, but rewarding if you get it right.
In short, the H2D is a promising option for serious creators who need those advanced capabilities. If that isn’t you, there are plenty of other models out there which might not require quite as much elbow grease.
