RadioMaster GX15 Review: 250 mW, Bling and the Screen Debate

This is a companion topic for our recent blog post on blog.unmanned.tech

The RadioMaster GX15 has landed, and it’s not just a fancy transmitter pretending to be an FPV radio. This full-sized ExpressLRS device boasts a snazzy screen above the sticks, an impressive switch count, and some seriously shiny CNC bling. However, those who can’t live with a 250 mW power limit might want to keep looking — after all, nobody wants to feel like they’re buying a workaround for a missing feature.

The screen layout may raise eyebrows, as it sits comfortably above the controls, which seems sensible unless you enjoy twisting your neck like an owl while adjusting dials. It’s perfect for setup and telemetry, but don’t expect it to distract you during actual flying; that’s what the sky is for. Also, be prepared to bring your own batteries—because apparently, retail radios still come without the necessary juice.

Fancy some RGB lighting? The GX15 Max has got you covered with adjustable colours that you can configure to your heart’s content, making your transmitter almost as flashy as that Auntie Edna’s Christmas jumper. And if you find yourself yearning for more power, you’ll be pleased to know you can add an external module via the JR bay — just don’t expect it to magically transform the internal limit.

For those who actually need a radio with proper controls, the GX15 offers a plethora of options, making it ideal for pilots who appreciate dedicated switches for specific functions. Just remember: a radio is only as good as the battery inside it—so do plan accordingly.
