Order #(#UT-729203-WH/OUT/55711) - Betafpv Superp Receiver - Flashing to elrs v4

Order Number: (#UT-729203-WH/OUT/55711)
Product Name: Betafpv Superp Receiver
Brand: BetaFPV
Hi, in your article ‘How to update Expresslrs firmware: radio and receiver guide’ the Betafpv superP is in the link for elrs v4 compatible receivers. Have you flashed one over from elrs v3.4.x to v4.0.x and if so what was your selection in the elrs configurator? If it works I might try it with radiomaster nexus x flight controller. Thanks for your advice, kind regards, Richard
I have not attempted to flash radiomaster t16s mkii or betafpv superP to elrs V4

Hi Richard,

Thanks for getting in touch! Great question — yes, the BetaFPV SuperP receiver is indeed ELRS v4 compatible (it’s ESP32-based), so you can flash it from v3.4.x to v4.0.x. Here’s what you need to know:

:warning: Key Warning: v3 and v4 are NOT backwards compatible

A v4 TX will not talk to a v3 RX, and vice versa. You’ll need to update both your TX module (Radiomaster T16S MKII) AND the SuperP receiver to v4 at the same time. If you only update one, binding will fail. After updating to v4, both devices must be re-bound.

ELRS Configurator Selections for the BetaFPV SuperP

In the ExpressLRS Configurator, use these settings:

  • Device Category: BetaFPV 2.4 GHz
  • Device Target: BetaFPV SuperP 14ch 2.4 GHz RX
  • Firmware Version: Select the latest 4.0.x stable release
  • Flashing Method: Betaflight Passthrough (easiest if connected to an FC), Wi-Fi, or UART
  • Regulatory Domain: 2.4 GHz ISM
  • Binding Phrase: Enter a phrase (must match your TX exactly) — this is now required in v4

Using with the Radiomaster Nexus X

The SuperP can be flashed via Betaflight Passthrough once wired to the Nexus X, which is a convenient method. Wire the SuperP’s CH13 (RX) to the Nexus X’s UART TX pad, CH14 (TX) to UART RX, plus 5V and GND.

Important Notes for v4- Settings will reset to defaults after flashing — note down your binding phrase and settings first.

  • Replace the ELRS Lua script on your radio’s SD card — delete the old elrsv3.lua and copy the new elrs.lua from the ExpressLRS GitHub releases.
  • The SuperP is a PWM-first receiver, so after flashing you’ll need to configure the serial output pins (CH13/CH14) via the ELRS Lua script’s Other Devices → Output Map or via the receiver’s WebUI at 10.0.0.1.
  • EdgeTX 2.11+ is recommended on your radio for full v4 feature support.

Quick Post-Flash Checklist- Update TX module to matching ELRS v4.0.x

  • Verify binding phrase matches on both TX and RX
  • Replace ELRS Lua script on radio SD card
  • Re-bind both devices
  • Configure serial output pins on the SuperP for CRSF
  • Test with props off before flying!

Hope that helps — let us know if you run into any issues during the flash and we’ll do our best to assist. Good luck with the build! :helicopter:
