DJI O4: The Unseen Pitfalls and What You Need to Know

This is a companion topic for our recent blog post on blog.unmanned.tech

It appears that the DJI O4 has landed with more than just a splash; it’s made a proper wave of concern. Ian from MadsRC has taken a critical look at some rather unfortunate quirks that have emerged post-launch. Among the more pressing issues is a firmware hiccup with the DJI Goggles 2, which leaves users confined to either a lacklustre 16 Mbps or an equally uninspiring 30 Mbps when in auto mode—hardly the thrilling 50 Mbps we were promised.

Compatibility woes are also on the menu, as the O4 currently only plays nice with BetaFlight, much to the dismay of those hoping for iNav support. It seems DJI’s implementation of MSP has left users scratching their heads, and we’re all just waiting with bated breath for a glimmer of hope on that front. Meanwhile, if you’re finding your camera cables more fragile than a biscuit in a teacup, you’re not alone—it’s all thanks to new connectors that don’t quite match their predecessors.

For those facing these pesky issues, Ian suggests putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and filing support tickets with DJI. After all, a bit of feedback might just spur them into action, lest we all be left to navigate this technological minefield on our own.
