Caddx Ascent 100FPS Update, Kiss Ultra ESC, FlySky ELRS & More

This is a companion topic for our recent blog post on blog.unmanned.tech

Mads Tech recently had a bit of a mishap involving a review quad, mostly due to a rather untimely low-battery warning—or lack thereof—on his goggles. A timely reminder that maintaining your gear is essential, especially if you fancy not losing your kit in a muddy field. So, pro tip: double-check those battery alerts before you take off.

In more technical news, KISS has unveiled the Ultra ESC, weighing in at a featherlight 16g and boasting an impressive 80A rating—perfect for those who like their quads light and powerful, though you’ll need to cough up €75 for the privilege. Meanwhile, Caddx has pushed out a firmware update allowing the Ascent to shoot 1080p60 and 720p100, although whether it can actually deliver on the promises of lower latency remains to be seen—patience, grasshopper.

FlySky has also entered the fray with a new ExpressLRS receiver featuring dual chip antennas, which sounds fancy but will require some real-world testing before we crown it as the next best thing since sliced bread. If you’re thinking of dipping your toes into cheaper digital VTX options, just remember: sometimes you get what you pay for, so weigh your options wisely.
