Order #UT-730188 - Isdt K4 Charger - No balance leads! i need to source leads that fit the sockets

Order Number: UT-730188
Product Name: Isdt K4 Charger
Brand: ISDT
I knew the ISDT K4 charger did not come with balance charge leads. I had expected to be able to use leads from my other chargers but they wont fit.
Do you have multi socket balance charge leads to fit this charger? Can you recommend such leads? The sockets appear to have more pins as I guess they are suitable for up to 8S lipos? I charge anything from 2S to 6S and charge in safe bags so I must have multi-socket (2S, 3S, 4S, 5S, 6S) extension leads for the balance charge connections.
Thanks for your help!
Not really applicable but have tried my own leads which wont fit.

Hi Steve good day,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

You should be able to plug your packs 2-6S lipo directly into the charger:

You will pug the battery balance plug in starting from the left hand side of the adapter on the charger, so you should be able to plug any pack in on the range mentioned previously.

If not, can you please send me some photos of the balance connectors/packs you are using and I can try to make some better recommendations for you.

Hope this helps.
If there is anything else I can help with please do let me know.

Regards,
David

Hi David,

Sorry just replied to Diane concerning the same issue. In short I charge all my lipos in safe bags. The balance leads are considerably shorter than those shown in your picture. The lead just sticks out of the corner of the safe bag, I then plug it into a multi socket balance lead extension and then into the charger. My leads don’t fit the ISDT charger. I also charge 2S, 3S, 4S lipos so prefer to have the multi socket extension.

Thanks

Steve

Hello Diane,

Thanks for your prompt response.

For the power leads I have sourced a set of XT60 to EC5 so that should work.

The problem I have is that I always charge my lipos in safe bags. This results in the balance lead just poking out of one corner of the bag and must be plugged into a multi socket balance extension lead. (see pic)

The leads I have from 2 types of other charger do not fit into the sockets on the ISDT charger. (see pics)

I also charge 2S, 3S, 4S and 6S lipos in the same way so ideally want the multi socket extensions that will fit the ISDT charger.

Thanks

Steve

Just went to plug in the mains connection to find that the unit was supplied with a foreign 2 round pin plug!

Not a good start!

Hi Diane / Dave,

First of all apologies! One of my balance lead types does fit the iSDT charger but has to be plugged in upside down which seemed a bit odd. But batteries now charging nicely!

A couple of points to mention.

  1. Luckily in this instance I had a spare power lead which fits the charger and has a UK 3 pin plug fitted. If I replace my other 3 chargers I wont have leads to fit if it is supplied with the foreign lead! This is either an error or very poor for UK sales.
  2. Only one type of balance lead fits the charger so I will have to go looking for other leads if I purchase more chargers. I feel quite strongly that these balance extension leads should be included with the charger. They don’t cost much to provide!
  3. In the instructions I read that the menu button should be short pressed to obtain the list of tasks etc. The picture does not show a menu button. Only channel 1 and channel 2 buttons. If you short press it, it does not show the menu. You have to long press it to obtain the menu. Then short press to select, start etc.

Otherwise all gripes aside it looks good!

Will be interesting to see how it charges my 5200mAh and 6000mAh 6S lipos and my 5900mAh 6S SMC HV lipos!

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thank you very much for your detailed feedback — and no need to apologise at all! We really appreciate you taking the time to explain everything clearly.

I’m glad to hear that the batteries are now charging properly, although I completely understand your points regarding the initial setup experience.

To address the main issues you raised:

  • Power Lead (Mains Cable):
You’re absolutely right — the charger being supplied with a European 2-pin plug isn’t ideal for UK customers. We agree this should be improved, and I’ve flagged this internally with our purchasing team. We’ll also update the product listing to make this clearer for future buyers.

  • Balance Lead Fitment:
The ISDT charger is designed for direct connection with standard JST-XH balance connectors, but we recognise that many users — especially those charging within LiPo safe bags — need more flexible solutions. Your suggestion about including balance extension leads is a very valid point, and we’ll consider offering compatible extensions as an accessory recommendation moving forward.

  • Manual Instructions:
Thank you for spotting the issue regarding the menu button! You’re correct — the long press is required to access the menu, not a short press as suggested in the manual. We’ll also make a note to raise this with ISDT, as it’s clearly a point of confusion.

Despite the frustrations, I’m really pleased to hear that the charger is otherwise performing well. I’m confident it will handle your 5200mAh, 5900mAh, and 6000mAh 6S packs nicely — ISDT chargers are known for their reliable charge curves and balance accuracy.

Thanks again for the thorough feedback — it genuinely helps us improve.

Best regards,

Diane

How would you rate our customer service?

Hi Diane,

No problem!

Regarding the manual.

When you start charging the screen is red. After a while it changes to blue and green. The charger bleeps a couple of times but appears to carry on balance charging with very low current. I presume that it will eventually go black and switch off but haven’t been able to achieve a definite cut off point. It basically doesn’t indicate clearly when it has stopped charging! Can you also ask ISDT to add an explanation of the screen colour changes?

Considering all the issues, If I want to purchase another 3 chargers, could you come up with a special price as I will have to obtain all the leads etc.

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks again for your helpful feedback — we really appreciate your ongoing support and the time you’ve taken to highlight these points.

Regarding the charger screen behaviour:
You’re correct — once charging starts, the screen background changes colours to indicate different charging stages. However, we agree it isn’t clearly explained in the manual. We’ve made a note of this and will raise it directly with ISDT, asking them to provide a clearer guide to the screen colour meanings in future updates.

On your second point — that’s great to hear you’re considering purchasing more chargers!
I’ll check with our team to see if we can offer you a special price considering the quantity and the additional leads you’ll need. I’ll follow up shortly once I have confirmation on what we can arrange for you.

Thanks again for your patience and valuable feedback — it genuinely helps us improve both our service and the products we stock.

Best regards,

Diane

How would you rate our customer service?

Thanks Diane,

Appreciate your support and positive responses.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

So far I am very happy with the charging capability!

iSDT should also modify the packing a little so that it is easy to keep the chargers and leads in the original boxes. I currently do this with my Turnigy chargers.

Thanks again

Steve

PS: I am in two model flying clubs and will of course recommend the iSDT chargers if things work out!)

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your continued support and for your valuable feedback!

I’m happy to inform you that we can offer you a 5% discount on your order for the additional chargers. However, please note that we only have 2 units in stock at the moment.

Thanks again for your feedback about the packing — we’ll make a note of that. We also really appreciate your recommendations about the iSDT chargers to your flying clubs!

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

How would you rate our customer service?

Hi Diane,

Thanks but I was hoping for a bit more than 5% considering all the leads I need to purchase and the quantity I want to buy! :frowning:

Steve

Hi Diane,

Have just ordered 6 x balance leads, 6 x XT60 to EC5 leads and 4 x XT60 to EC3 leads. That’s without dealing with the mains lead plug issue!

Costs were as follows:

6 x balance charge leads £30.17

6 x XT60 female to EC5 male leads £27.33

4 x XT60 female to EC3 male leads £18.00

Total: £75.50

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks again for your message, and I totally understand where you’re coming from.

I’m really sorry, but unfortunately we’re not able to offer more than the 5% discount on this order. Our margins on these items are already quite tight, and we base any discounts we offer on what we’re able to secure from our suppliers as well.

There are quite a few overhead costs we have to factor in too — so while we’d love to be more flexible, we’re already doing our best to support where we can.

We genuinely appreciate your continued support and understanding — and please don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s anything else we can assist with!

Best regards,

Diane

Hi

Unfortunately we were not able to see this request before the order was shipped out, so I could not upgrade it to DPD.

However, I have now issues a 5% discount for you on this order as a gesture of goodwill
I will provide a 5% discount also for 2x more chargers, just let me know the order number once placed and we will do it that way!

Hi Diane,

I note that you have given me a 5% refund on my first order. Hopefully you will now provide me with a 5% refund on the order I have just placed for 2 more chargers!

Please also let me know when you have more in stock as I will probably purchase at least one more.

Thanks

Steve

Hello Alex,

That’s strange because I received confirmation that the order for 2pcs UT-731659 has been shipped by DPD. This is the order that should receive a 5% refund.

Thanks

Steve
